After a visit that blew him away to Villanova earlier in the week, Class of 2015 Brewster Academy guard Donovan Mitchell took a visit to Louisville today. What he saw from Rick Pitino and his staff really must have left an impression because before leaving campus Mitchell committed to the Cardinals.

In addition to the Cards and Villanova, Mitchell had recently pared his list down to five and was also considering Boston College, Florida State and Providence.
At Brewster last season, Mitchell bought into being second fiddle at times playing alongside Devonte Graham, Isaac Copeland, and Jared Terrell. The highlight reel guard bought into many of the miscellaneous categories like in playing the passing lanes on defense and making the right play in the backcourt on the other side of the floor. Many questioned his jumper and ball skills, however, according to HoopsIntel.com’s National Recruiting Analyst Corey Evans, if you were able to properly evaluate Mitchell in various settings, you could see that the elite talent just needed the ball to show off his skillset. After a strong summer at every stop opn the camp and AAU circuit, Mitchell is a star in the Class of 2015 and picked Louisville over additional offers from the likes of Kansas, UConn and more. Showing how much his game has evolved, schools have been recruiting him with the chance to play some point guard with his added opportunity to control the floor for his squad. He has some Eric Bledsoe to him, where he has extreme bounce in the open floor, can pass it and shoot it, and is a big time defender, both on his man and off the ball.
Mitchell joins Deng Adel (6’7, 185) and Raymond Spalding (6’10, 210) in the Cards 2015 class to date. Below is a mixtape of some of his highlights from the past year:
